IPhone duplicate contacts: The issue typically results from enabling the ICloud Contacts and syncing with outlook in ITunes. Doing this, which I replicated here, creates duplicates not only on your Iphone but, also in your contact list.
Below are the steps you can take to resolve the issue with IPhone contact duplication.
Step 1: Start by opening up ITunes and Backing up your IPhone:
Step 2: Go to your Iphone, click on Settings, then ICloud
Step 3: Click “Off” contacts. It will ask you do you want to delete from Iphone, Click keep on Iphone.
Step 4: Once completed: Re-sync Iphone with Outlook; Make sure these settings are setup in ITunes prior to sync.
Step 5: After phone has been synced, all contacts will still be duplicated in outlook and on your Iphone. Purchase this app for 99 cents. It worked for me.

Step 6: Click on App after purchase and “Find” in the upper right hand corner then click on “Exact Duplicates”
Once it finds all the duplicates in the upper left hand corner of your Iphone click on remove.
You may have to run it two times for it to completely remove all of the duplicates, but again, this process worked for me.
